About This PhD and Research Opportunity
The EMBL International PhD Programme provides an opportunity for talented researchers to undertake doctoral training in molecular biology and related areas at one of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory's research sites.
The programme brings together doctoral researchers from different countries and scientific backgrounds in an international research environment. PhD students undertake research projects within EMBL research groups and benefit from access to advanced facilities, scientific expertise, training opportunities and collaboration across EMBL's research sites.
About the Programme:
The EMBL International PhD Programme is designed for researchers who want to develop advanced research skills while working on scientific questions at the forefront of modern biology. EMBL operates research sites in Germany, France, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom, giving doctoral researchers the opportunity to work within a highly international scientific community.
PhD projects cover a broad range of biological research areas. Depending on the research group and available project, applicants may work in areas such as molecular biology, cell biology, developmental biology, genomics, structural biology, bioinformatics, computational biology, neuroscience, infection biology and other related fields.
Students work closely with experienced researchers and supervisors while developing their own research skills. The programme also provides opportunities to participate in seminars, scientific meetings, courses and other activities that support academic and professional development.
Eligibility:
The programme is intended for applicants with a strong academic background who are interested in pursuing doctoral research in areas covered by EMBL. Applicants should have completed, or be close to completing, a university degree that qualifies them for doctoral study.
Candidates should demonstrate academic preparation, research interest and the ability to work in an international scientific environment. Applicants are encouraged to review the available research areas and current PhD projects carefully before applying so that they can identify research interests that match their academic background and long-term goals.
