About This Scholarship
The University of Exeter Excellence Scholarship supports outstanding international students beginning eligible postgraduate taught Master's programmes at the University of Exeter.
For the January 2027 intake, the current Round 4 scholarship offers awards of £3,000, £5,000 or £10,000 as a reduction in first-year international tuition fees.
This particular scholarship round is more limited than Exeter's wider scholarship programme. It is available only to international-fee-paying students who have an offer for one of the eligible campus-based Master's programmes beginning in January 2027.
The eligible programmes are concentrated in Business, Finance and Management, Computer and Data Science, and Engineering. This makes the opportunity particularly relevant to international students looking for a January-start Master's rather than applicants planning to begin in September.
The scholarship is competitive and based on more than academic grades. Exeter states that selection considers academic merit together with the applicant's career ambitions, their plan for making the most of the study opportunity, their sense of social responsibility and their willingness to contribute to the Exeter community.
Applicants therefore need to demonstrate not only that they are academically strong, but also that they have thought carefully about what they want to accomplish with their Master's degree.
Scholarship Benefits
Successful applicants receive one of the following tuition-fee reductions:
- £3,000
- £5,000
- £10,000
The award is applied to the student's first-year international tuition fees.
The scholarship lasts for one year and is not automatically repeated in subsequent years.
The award therefore reduces the amount of tuition the student needs to pay but does not normally cover the full cost of an international Master's degree.
Students remain responsible for other costs such as accommodation, food, transportation, visa expenses and general living expenses.
