About This Scholarship
The Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA), in partnership with Kyungdong University Global (KDU Global), is inviting applications for the 2027 KDU Global Partial Graduate Scholarship. The opportunity allows eligible students from selected East African Community (EAC) countries to pursue master's degree programmes at Kyungdong University Global in South Korea.
The scholarship provides financial assistance towards tuition fees for students seeking international postgraduate education. Successful applicants receive full tuition coverage for the first semester, valued at US$5,000. However, this is a partial scholarship rather than a fully funded award. Students must make their own arrangements for accommodation, travel, health insurance and other personal expenses.
The programmes are delivered entirely in English.
Available Master's Programmes
Applicants can apply for one of the following programmes:
Master of Engineering in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science: Suitable for graduates interested in artificial intelligence, data science and technology-related careers.
Master of Arts in International Business Administration: Designed for students interested in business administration, international business and management.
Master of Arts in International Hospitality and Tourism Management: Relevant to graduates seeking advanced knowledge and professional development in hospitality and tourism management.
Programme Duration
Applicants can choose between two study tracks:
Research track: Four semesters (approximately two years).
Coursework track: Five semesters (approximately two and a half years).
The expected programme commencement date is 2 March 2027.
Scholarship Benefits
The scholarship provides:
Full first-semester tuition coverage valued at US$5,000.
Further tuition assistance based on academic performance during the first semester.
Assistance from the university in finding part-time student employment.
The scholarship percentage for subsequent semesters depends on the student's first-semester academic average.

Expenses Not Covered
Applicants should prepare financially for expenses that are not covered by the scholarship, including:
Dormitory accommodation, estimated at US$1,100 per semester.
International airfare.
Application fees.
Health insurance.
Personal expenses and other initial relocation costs.
Financial Documentation Requirement
Applicants selected for admission must provide a six-month bank statement and a bank balance certificate showing more than US$16,000 from an acceptable sponsor before final admission.
The sponsor must be the applicant or their parent. Where both parents are deceased, a biological sibling may serve as the sponsor.
This requirement is particularly important because receiving the tuition scholarship does not automatically mean that the student has sufficient funds to meet the university's other admission and living requirements.

To qualify, applicants must:
Be citizens and residents of an eligible East African Community Partner State.
Hold an undergraduate degree.
Provide their undergraduate degree certificate or diploma and academic transcripts.

Meet the financial documentation requirements for final admission.

Application Advice
Applicants should begin preparing their documents well before the deadline, particularly their English proficiency certificates and academic records. Since the preliminary selection requires all documents to be submitted as one PDF, ensure that every document is legible, correctly arranged and included before sending the application.
Pay particular attention to the financial requirements. The first-semester tuition waiver does not cover accommodation, airfare, health insurance or personal expenses. Furthermore, subsequent scholarship support depends on academic performance. Applicants should assess their ability to finance the remaining costs rather than assume that the initial award will cover the entire master's programme.
When selecting a programme, choose one that is consistent with your undergraduate qualification and academic interests. Applicants should also confirm the admission requirements for their preferred programme and ensure that their passport will remain valid for the intended period of travel.
Finally, submit the application to the designated email addresses before the deadline and retain a copy of the submitted PDF and any application correspondence.
Eligibility reminder: This scholarship is restricted to citizens and residents of Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda.
