About This Fellowship
The Schlumberger Foundation is accepting applications for the 2027–2028 Faculty for the Future Fellowship Programme. The initiative supports talented women from eligible developing and emerging countries who wish to pursue doctoral studies or postdoctoral research in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) at universities or research institutions abroad.
The programme seeks to strengthen women's participation in scientific research and leadership while helping develop the scientific and technological capacity of their home countries. It is particularly relevant to women with strong academic records, research ambitions, leadership experience, and a demonstrated commitment to using their expertise to support education, research, innovation, and sustainable development.
Faculty for the Future was established by the Schlumberger Foundation to address barriers that prevent talented women from pursuing advanced scientific education and careers. Through financial assistance and a wider international community of researchers, the programme supports women who can contribute to scientific progress and encourage more girls and women to pursue STEM disciplines.
The fellowship is designed for applicants who intend to undertake advanced research outside their home country. Applicants must have applied to, received admission from, or already be enrolled at an appropriate host university or research institution abroad. A candidate who has not yet applied to a host institution is not eligible.
The foundation particularly encourages applications in fields where women remain underrepresented, including physical sciences, engineering, computer science, and mathematics.
Who Can Apply?
The programme is open to eligible women who meet the following requirements:
- Be a woman and a citizen of a country included in the foundation's eligible-country criteria for the relevant application cycle.
- Be applying for a PhD or postdoctoral research programme in a STEM discipline.
- Have applied to, been admitted to, or be enrolled at a recognised host university or research institution abroad.
- Demonstrate an excellent academic record and the ability to undertake advanced scientific research.

- Demonstrate a commitment to returning to their home country or region and contributing to its socioeconomic development.
- Show leadership, community engagement, and a commitment to encouraging young people, particularly girls and women, to pursue STEM education and careers.
- Meet the programme's other academic, research, and application requirements.
The foundation does not fund Master's degree programmes. Applicants holding dual citizenship that includes citizenship of a developed country are also ineligible under the published rules.
