About This Fellowship
The ICANN89 Policy Forum Fellowship provides an opportunity for experienced participants in the ICANN Fellowship Program to deepen their involvement in the global Internet governance community. The programme is designed for ICANN Fellowship alumni who want to continue developing their knowledge of Internet policy, the Domain Name System (DNS), Internet infrastructure, and the security and stability of the global Internet.
The fellowship is part of ICANN's broader effort to strengthen participation in its multistakeholder model by supporting individuals from underserved and underrepresented communities. Fellows gain structured opportunities to learn about ICANN's policy-development processes, interact with stakeholders from different sectors and contribute to discussions taking place within the ICANN community.
Unlike the general ICANN Fellowship route, the Policy Forum Fellowship is specifically for people who have successfully completed an ICANN Fellowship previously. Applicants who have attended an ICANN meeting but have never participated as ICANN Fellows are not eligible for this particular fellowship.
Selected fellows participate in activities before, during and after the ICANN Public Meeting. The programme includes mentoring, required ICANN Learn courses, fellowship sessions, networking with alumni and community members, and active participation in the meeting. Fellows are also expected to complete a post-meeting survey and remain engaged with the wider ICANN community.
The ICANN89 Policy Forum will be held in Vancouver, Canada, from 14–17 June 2027. ICANN currently lists the meeting as both in-person and virtual, although the fellowship is designed around participation in the ICANN Public Meeting and its required activities.
