About This Scholarship
The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at Arizona State University (ASU) is offering fully funded graduate scholarship opportunities for young African professionals who want to pursue master's-level education in technology, innovation, engineering, computing, data science, robotics, clean energy and related fields.
The 2027–2028 Innovation and Technology scholarship is part of the third phase of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at ASU. The programme is designed to expand access to advanced education and professional development for talented young Africans who have the potential to contribute to positive social and economic transformation in their communities and countries.
For the 2027–2028 application cycle, the programme is offering 30 graduate study opportunities for young African professionals. Successful Scholars will undertake full-time, on-campus master's degree programmes at Arizona State University in selected areas related to technology and innovation.
The scholarship is particularly relevant to African graduates who have strong academic potential but may face financial barriers to pursuing a graduate degree in the United States. The programme does not simply provide tuition assistance. According to ASU, the scholarship package includes full tuition and fees, on-campus housing and books, visa expenses, airfare and medical expenses, together with leadership development, academic advising and support and a two-month internship between the first and second years of study.
The programme is intended to develop a generation of African professionals who can use advanced knowledge and professional skills to contribute to economic and social development in their home communities.
The available master's programmes cover several areas of technology and sustainable development. These include the MS in Global Technology and Development, MS in Information Technology, Master of Computer Science, MS in Data Science, Analytics and Engineering, MS in Robotics and Autonomous Systems, MS in Clean Energy Systems, MS in Civil, Environmental and Sustainable Engineering, and MS in Modern Energy Production and Sustainable Use.
This makes the opportunity suitable for applicants with different academic backgrounds within the broader technology, engineering, computing and sustainability sectors.
