About This PhD and Research Opportunity
The NVIDIA Graduate Fellowship Program is designed to support doctoral researchers whose work is advancing the technologies and computational methods that underpin modern artificial intelligence and accelerated computing. The programme brings together academic research and industry expertise, giving selected PhD students financial support while creating opportunities to engage with researchers working on some of the technical challenges shaping the next generation of computing.
The fellowship is particularly relevant to researchers whose doctoral work involves computationally intensive methods, intelligent systems, large-scale data processing, advanced computer architectures or applications of computing in areas such as healthcare and scientific research. NVIDIA's research interests extend across a broad range of disciplines, so applicants do not necessarily need to be working on a single narrowly defined technology. Their research should, however, demonstrate a meaningful connection to areas in which accelerated computing and related technologies can contribute.
For the 2027–2028 academic year, selected fellows may receive up to US$60,000 through their university. The award can help cover eligible expenses such as tuition, mandatory fees and the student's stipend, subject to the university's administration of the fellowship.
One of the distinctive features of the programme is its connection to NVIDIA's research environment. Fellowship recipients are required to complete an in-person summer internship at an eligible NVIDIA research office before the fellowship year begins. This component gives successful applicants an opportunity to gain experience outside the university environment, work alongside industry researchers and explore how academic research can be applied to practical technological problems.
The programme can therefore be relevant to doctoral researchers who are not only seeking financial support for their studies but are also interested in developing research experience within a major technology company. Applicants should consider the internship requirement carefully when determining whether the fellowship fits their academic timetable and research commitments.
