About This Job
In modern software companies, the difference between a productive engineering organization and a frustrated one often comes down to the quality of the tools, pipelines and infrastructure that developers use every day. Slow builds, unreliable tests, fragile deployment processes and poorly designed internal systems create friction that compounds across dozens or hundreds of engineers. The field known as Developer Experience (or DevEx) exists to reduce that friction.
Dremio is hiring a Software Engineer – Developer Experience to work on the systems that help its engineering teams build, test and deliver software more efficiently. This is not a traditional product-feature role. Instead of focusing primarily on customer-facing functionality, the successful candidate will improve the internal tools, automation and infrastructure that power day-to-day engineering work.
About Dremio and Its Technology
Dremio develops a unified lakehouse platform designed for self-service analytics and artificial intelligence. The company positions its technology as a way for organizations to query and analyze data across cloud, hybrid and on-premises environments without the traditional complexity of moving data between systems.
A significant part of Dremio’s technical foundation is built around open-source projects, most notably Apache Iceberg and Apache Arrow. Apache Iceberg is a high-performance table format for large analytic datasets, while Apache Arrow provides a standardized columnar memory format that enables efficient data interchange between systems. Together, these technologies support the kind of scalable, high-performance analytics workloads that large organizations increasingly demand.
Because Dremio’s platform serves enterprise customers with complex data environments, the reliability and speed of its internal engineering processes matter. When developers can build, test and release changes more efficiently, the entire organization benefits — from faster feature delivery to more reliable infrastructure.
What Developer Experience Work Actually Involves
Developer Experience engineering sits at the intersection of software engineering, infrastructure and process design. The goal is not simply to keep systems running, but to make the entire software development lifecycle smoother, more reliable and less painful for the people writing code.
In practice, this means working on continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) systems, build tooling, test infrastructure, automation frameworks, developer portals, and the supporting systems that engineers interact with daily. When these systems work well, engineers spend more time solving real problems and less time fighting their tools. When they work poorly, productivity drops, frustration rises, and delivery slows.
The role at Dremio focuses on exactly these areas. The successful candidate will help design, implement and maintain the systems that allow engineering teams to work more efficiently.
