About This Course and Training
The Federal Ministry of Education Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Initiative is a government-funded skills development programme designed to equip Nigerians with practical technical and vocational skills for employment and entrepreneurship.
Unlike conventional online courses that mainly provide access to learning materials, the initiative is structured around practical training delivered through accredited training centres. Participants receive hands-on instruction in their selected trade and can obtain recognised certification after completing the required programme.
The programme is particularly relevant to people who want to develop an employable practical skill, start a small business, or improve an existing technical occupation.

What the Funding Covers
The Federal Government covers the tuition cost of the training through NELFund.
Eligible trainees also receive monthly stipends during the training period. This provides financial support while participants are developing their practical skills.
Selected trainees can also receive support towards starting or expanding a livelihood after training. Depending on the programme and applicable arrangements, this can include starter support or access to financing.
The programme therefore provides more than tuition-free instruction: it combines practical training with financial support and a pathway towards self-employment or employment.
Training Duration
The initiative includes different training pathways.
The Short-Term Certificate (STC) programme runs for approximately six months.
The Vocational Education & Innovation (VEI) programme runs for approximately one year.
Applicants should check the specific training track and programme type available when applying because duration and entry requirements can differ.
Training Centres
Training is delivered through participating accredited institutions and vocational centres rather than through a single national campus.
