About This Conference
The Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is offering scholarships to help students and early-career professionals participate in ASCE2027, the organization's major 2027 event for infrastructure and engineering professionals.
ASCE2027 will bring together researchers, academics, practicing engineers, policymakers and other professionals working across the built environment. The programme covers areas including structural engineering, buildings, bridges, infrastructure, structural codes and standards, innovative research, professional practice, AI and infrastructure, climate and extreme events, next-generation materials and engineering technologies.
The SEI scholarships are designed to do more than pay for conference attendance. Recipients are expected to actively participate in SEI activities, interact with established professionals and become more involved in the structural engineering community.
Selected recipients will also be connected with an SEI member volunteer who can serve as an informal mentor before the conference and help recipients navigate networking opportunities during the event. :contentReference[oaicite:1]{index=1}
Scholarship Options
There are three related opportunities under the SEI programme:
Student Scholarship
This option is for current full-time undergraduate or graduate students studying civil engineering or a similar discipline. Preference is given to students who have not previously attended an SEI/ASCE professional conference.
The award provides complimentary student registration, economy travel reimbursement of up to US$550 for eligible travel within the United States, and US$175 per day toward lodging and other costs for up to four nights.
Young Professional Scholarship
This option is for SEI members who are 35 years old or younger and are working in industry or academia with an interest in becoming more involved with SEI.
Up to five scholarships are available for full-time young professional teaching faculty through age 40.
Students are not eligible for this particular scholarship. The award includes complimentary registration, eligible U.S. travel reimbursement of up to US$550 and up to US$175 per night toward lodging and other costs for four nights.
SEI Future Leader Scholarship
This scholarship is intended for students and young professionals who want to develop their communication, networking and leadership skills and become more actively involved in SEI initiatives.
Up to 10 applicants may be selected.
Recipients receive complimentary conference registration together with eligible travel reimbursement of up to US$550 and up to US$175 per night for up to four nights.
Unlike the other two routes, this scholarship also requires applicants to submit a written response addressing how the civil engineering profession can better develop and support students and young professionals. :contentReference[oaicite:2]{index=2}
